From 6-7th October 2018, a training workshop on CDIO approach and outcome-based education was successfully organized at FPT Polytechnic, Tay Nguyen. This is one of the activities implemented by the CDIO Project with regard to enhancing a deeper understanding of CDIO philosophy and outcome-based education.
The workshop began with the remarks on the adoption of the CDIO approach in engineering education by Mr. Nguyen Nghiem, Manager of Research and Development Department. “By adopting CDIO approach, the curriculum is designed based on constructive alignment with the expected learning outcomes instead of a set of incoherent subjects, which bring about opportunities for students to become competent in the skills that industry needs”- said Mr. Nghiem.
The workshop emphasized the practical values of CDIO philosophy. Accordingly, designing the curriculum and assessing process based on constructive alignment is crucial to improving training quality as well as educating students to possess necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes at graduation.
During the workshop, not only did the attendees gain more understanding on outcome-based education but also take the opportunity to directly adopt valuable knowledge on their current projects.
